Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, people consider different factors for working in a business world weather it is family oriented or which is open to the world. In my opinion, a family member should not join their family business, instead he/she should evaluate more in the outside world. This essay brings across advantages and disadvantages for joining a family firm.
Firstly, when a person joins a family business, the factor which will affect the career growth will be individual suggestions, for instance you have to obey majority of the decisions of senior family members who were running the company from quite a while related to outside market. Another factor can be, a persons individual growth will be at stake, the confidence level of a person can be dicy. Also, he/she will be lazy enough to do the given work thinking that it can be done by someone else as being the eldest child in the family he/she could transfer all the burden on other persons shoulders.
On the other hand, if somone joins any other firm by neglecting their own company, he/she can build his/her career in a different trajectory and according to his/her convinence. For example, he/she will generate a good amount of confidence level to deal with this competative world. A persons advice or suggestions will carry equal weightage like other members in the company. By facing company deadlines on projects, he/she will be more motivated towards work. Through this he/she will live a much more satisfied life compared to the life while working in a family business.
To sum up with, I would mention that the family business advantages are quitly less attractive then its disadvantages and from this by working elsewhere in the world, one can live his/her life on their own terms and in a much enjoyable manner.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you argue that working outside the family business is preferable, and you give relevant reasons, including limited influence over decisions, possible effects on confidence, and opportunities to build a career elsewhere. This addresses the question and includes an example of how workplace deadlines may increase motivation. However, the discussion of the advantages of family businesses is not really developed; the essay mainly explains why outside employment may be better, rather than weighing both sides of family businesses directly. Some claims, such as a family member becoming lazy or transferring work to others, are asserted without enough explanation or a specific example. Develop the benefits of family firms and support each main point more fully to make the response more balanced.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting contrasting situations, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “On the other hand,” and “To sum up” help readers follow the broad progression. However, the organisation is not always aligned with the question: the first body paragraph discusses disadvantages of joining a family firm, while the second focuses on benefits of working elsewhere, so the comparison of family-business advantages and disadvantages remains indirect. Some sentences also contain several loosely connected points, particularly the first body paragraph, which makes the relationships between ideas less clear. Use topic sentences that directly identify each side of the comparison, and connect each supporting explanation explicitly to the main claim.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of vocabulary for discussing work and career, including “career growth,” “confidence level,” “company deadlines,” and “motivated.” Some attempts at more formal or varied expression are evident, but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and reduce precision. For example, “dicy” does not clearly express the intended meaning, “weightage” is not natural in this context, and “different trajectory” is awkwardly used. There are also spelling errors such as “somone,” “convinence,” “competative,” and “quitly.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for instance, describe a person’s “career prospects” or say their “opinions are given equal consideration.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “when,” “if,” and “thinking that.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. Examples include “a persons individual growth,” where the possessive form is needed, and “the factor which will affect the career growth will be individual suggestions,” which has an unclear and awkward clause structure. In “the family business advantages are quitly less attractive then its disadvantages,” the comparison is not formed accurately. Pronoun references such as “he/she” are also repeated and can make sentences cumbersome. Practise clearer sentence construction, accurate possessives and comparisons, and punctuation that separates related ideas.
