Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, people invest more in businesses rather than doing a regular job. In few nations, family members take interest in the family business and spend their time to expand the business. I believe family businesses has more advantages such as generate more revenue, stability in business and a few drawbacks like sudden loss in business . I will explain both outcomes in the following paragraphs.
To begin with, if every member of the family is invested in the company, it helps the business to expand. For instance, if somebody has a pizza shop and it takes 15 minutes to prepare one pizza . However if, there are more people doing the job they eventually prepare more pizzas and the store achieve more sales. Thus, it helps the business to generate an extra revenue. Secondly, it brings the more stability in the business. For example, if the owner of the business met with an accident and not able to continue the job, the other members can still continue the business. Aa a result, there will be stability in the profits.
On the other hand, there are a few drawbacks as well. Sometimes people misunderstand or get into fight witch each other which eventually creates a friction between them and a news article also revealed that when there is misunderstandings between business partners, it creates non friendly environment which eventually leads the company to face negative outcomes.
In conclusion, working together in the companies has more advantages. However it brings a few negative impacts as well. I believe instead of hiring a stranger, families should do hard work together and achieve positive results.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you believe family businesses have more advantages, and you address both benefits and drawbacks. The examples about producing more pizzas and relatives continuing the business if the owner is injured are relevant and help explain your reasoning. However, the first benefit is developed more fully than the second, while the disadvantage is mainly described as conflict and supported by a vague reference to a news article. The opening claim about generating more revenue, stability and sudden loss is not fully matched by the discussion, since sudden loss is not explained. To strengthen the response, develop each point with a specific explanation or example and make sure the introduction previews the arguments that follow.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Secondly,” and “On the other hand” make the main progression easy to follow. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and also shows some features of stronger cohesion. However, links can feel mechanical, and some references are unclear: “it” in the pizza example could refer to the shop or the business, while “a news article” is introduced without enough context. The conclusion also repeats the position rather than drawing the main points together. Use more precise referencing and connect each example explicitly to the claim it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including topic-related terms such as “family business,” “stability,” “profits,” and “negative outcomes.” There are also attempts at less common expressions, but several choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “generate an extra revenue,” “brings the more stability,” and “creates a friction” are examples. “Get into fight” and “non friendly environment” also sound awkward, and “Aa” is a spelling slip. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, but the range is somewhat repetitive and control is uneven. Aim to learn natural word partnerships and check spelling and word forms during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if every member of the family is invested in the company” and “if the owner … met with an accident.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and punctuation reduce accuracy. For example, “family businesses has” should be “family businesses have,” and “the store achieve” should be “the store achieves.” In “the owner … and not able to continue,” the verb phrase needs to be completed (“is not able”). There are also comma and spacing problems, such as the full stop before “However” and “advantages.However.” Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
