Student answer (Band 6.0)

In many nations, members of the family work together in their family ventures. I strongly believe that the advantages of doing this outweigh the disadvantages considering various factors like potential chances of growth, emotional support and unity.

To begin with, there are high chances of potential growth in the same business if family members join the business. They can easily communicate their ideas and suggestions to someone who is already known; hence, there are no chances of hesitations. Furthermore, it is quite easy for them to work on the same projects without the fear of being judged by someone at higher post. These developements ultimately foster the confidence into them leading to the growth of the company at full potential.

Moreover, it is of utmost comfort to work with family members as they provide plenty of emotional support. As they are aware about your emotional needs they provide it to you when you are upset or suffering pain. This behavior helps one to recover faster and prevents them from being dragged into serious mental conditions like depression.

Last but not the least, family members who work in the same company think that it is their own business and it is their responsibilty to stay united to stay away from loss or destruction. They achieve their goals together and try to push each other for the prosperity of their family business.

In conclusion, it is quite common for family members to work in their family ventures in many countries nowadays. After examining various factors contributing to overall developement of the business such as emotional support, unity and chances of growth, I would stand with the belief that its advantages surpass the disavantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you believe the benefits of family businesses outweigh the drawbacks. You give relevant reasons—communication, emotional support, and shared responsibility—and explain some consequences, such as greater confidence and working towards common goals. This addresses the question, but the advantages are not all developed equally, and the response does not examine any disadvantages before weighing them against the benefits. Some claims, particularly that family support prevents serious conditions such as depression, are broad and would be more convincing with a specific example or qualification. To strengthen the argument, explain how the benefits affect business performance and briefly acknowledge a realistic drawback, then show why the advantages remain greater.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, three body paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and each body paragraph focuses on a distinct reason. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, the linking is somewhat formulaic, especially “Last but not the least,” and the paragraphs mostly present separate points rather than building a connected comparison of advantages and disadvantages. Some references are also unclear: “These developments” does not precisely identify which ideas or actions it refers to. Use more varied transitions and clearer links between claims, explanations and examples to make the progression more natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “emotional support,” “responsibility,” “prosperity,” and “potential growth,” and the meaning remains clear. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “outweigh the disadvantages.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: “chances of potential growth” is repetitive, “fear of being judged by someone at higher post” is awkward, and “recover faster” is not clearly connected to business performance. Spelling errors such as “developements,” “responsibilty,” and “disavantages” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe how family members can “share ideas openly” or “support the business’s long-term growth.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses such as “as they are aware about your emotional needs” and a result structure with “leading to the growth of the company.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, and the overall argument is understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, however. In “there are no chances of hesitations,” the construction is not well formed; “without fear of being judged by someone at higher post” is missing an article; and “they provide it to you” has an unclear pronoun reference. There are also punctuation and spacing problems around commas, as in “hence, there” and “support, unity.” Review articles, pronoun reference and sentence punctuation, while continuing to use complex structures with careful control.
