Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's world, family menbers work together in family-owned businesses. Although this arrangement has some disadvantages , I believe that the advamtages outweight the disadvantages because working together build trust , stronger your bond and improves your teamwork.

On the one hand, family businesses offer several benefits. The main advantage is that family members usually trust each other and work in a common ground. They can share responsibilities, make decisions and solve problems together . They can better understand each other. For example, a family-owned business parents cook food and do the dishes, on the other hand, children serve food and clean the tables and handle finance to run business smoothly. Another benefit is that profits remain in the family, which can improve their financial situation and provide better opportuinties for future generations.

On the other hand, working with family members also create problems. One major disadvantages is the disagreement between the family members, it creates tensions and negatively affect the business. For instance, if two broithers working together in a shop and both have a different opinion, as a result, it impact the sales and customers. Furthermore, some people needs special treatment weather they have a very limited skills . However, this problems could be resolved as divide the task to each others according to their abilities and make strict rules and regulations.

To conclude, although family bussinesses can lead to personal conflicts and unfair treatment, I believe that their adavatages are far greater then their disadvantages because it bulid trust, teamwork and share finance within the family can strengthen the financial suitation and run their business without any outsider interfarence .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you believe the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. You address both sides and give relevant examples, including how family members might divide duties in a food business and how disagreements between brothers could affect sales. These points meet the task well. However, some support is not fully explained: the example of dividing restaurant tasks is presented as a list, without showing how this arrangement improves the business, and the claim about special treatment and limited skills is difficult to interpret. To strengthen the response, explain each example’s connection to your main argument and clarify how the disadvantages compare with the benefits.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” helps readers follow the argument. Within paragraphs, however, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The restaurant example begins “For example” but then shifts into a confusing contrast, while “However, this problems could be resolved” does not clearly connect the proposed solution to the preceding point. The conclusion also combines several ideas in one long sentence. Use clearer links between claims and examples, and organise each paragraph around a more explicit sequence: point, explanation, example, and implication.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “responsibilities,” “financial situation,” “disagreement,” and “future generations,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “strict rules and regulations,” though some wording is inaccurate or unnatural. Examples include “work in a common ground,” “handle finance,” and “without any outsider interference.” Spelling errors such as “advamtages,” “opportuinties,” and “bussinesses” are noticeable, and several words are repeated, particularly “family” and “business.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning natural collocations, while varying repeated terms with suitable alternatives such as “relatives,” “the enterprise,” or “the company.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a concession in the opening (“Although this arrangement has some disadvantages”) and conditional reasoning about disagreements affecting sales. However, some errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction remain. For example, “working together build trust” needs a singular verb, and “working with family members also create problems” has the same agreement issue. The sentence beginning “For instance, if two brothers working together” lacks a finite verb in its conditional clause, while “it creates tensions and negatively affect” mixes verb forms. Some punctuation also makes sentences difficult to follow. Review subject–verb agreement and ensure each clause has a complete, correctly formed verb.
