Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You give a clear opinion that family businesses have more advantages, and the restaurant example provides relevant support: you describe its growth from a small room to a larger business offering several services. However, the response addresses the topic only minimally because the example is not explained in enough detail and the disadvantages are not considered, even briefly. The reasons listed—saving money, teamwork and family bonding—are relevant but mostly asserted rather than developed. The response also contains 133 words, which is 117 words below the required minimum; the eight words copied from the prompt are excluded from this count. To improve, explain how these advantages work in practice and acknowledge a possible drawback, such as disagreements between relatives, before reaffirming your view.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some organisation: the opening states your position, the first paragraph gives a family restaurant example, and the final section lists further advantages. This makes the general direction understandable. However, the response is very short and the ideas do not develop into a clear progression from claim to explanation and example. Connections between points are limited, with “Because” beginning a fragment and the final list moving quickly from teamwork to promotion. Paragraphing is present but does not yet guide the reader through a fully developed argument. Use clear topic sentences and linking expressions to show how each reason supports your opinion, and separate the example from the explanation of its significance.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “family business,” “team work,” “bonding,” “dining,” and “online orders.” These choices help communicate the subject and the restaurant’s development. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the account difficult to read, such as “Resaturent,” “hygine,” “loaction,” and “expensives.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “Great help each others” and “easy to understand order.” Aim to use accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “operating costs,” “customer service,” and “business expansion” would help you explain your reasons with greater clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response mainly uses short, simple statements, with only limited attempts to connect ideas into longer sentences. Frequent errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, articles and punctuation sometimes make the meaning unclear. For example, “I think family business have more advantages than disadvantages” has an agreement problem, while “Because all family members can work in one place together” is an incomplete sentence. “Now it was big building” also uses an unsuitable tense and lacks an article. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check that verb tense remains consistent when describing the restaurant’s past and present. Adding a few accurate complex sentences would also broaden your grammatical range.
