Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this competative era, business is integral part for the source of income and growth. In many nations, members of the family works togather in their family business. I believe it has many benefits than drawbacks.

In this essay will explore its advantages further.

To expand with, the first and foremost benefit is trust. As family members know eachother well, they can trust them as trust is main the main key for every business. Secondly, they do not need to hire out side person to run business as family members are enough. In this way, they can save money and invest in other areas to grow business. Thirdly, due to family business, their relationships with eachother become more strong. For example, two brothers who live togather, runs family business togather has stronger relation than who live apart.

On the other hand, it creates problems as well. To examplify, sometime due to family business, conflicts occurs between family members which ends up with loss. For example, famouse business man Dhiru Bhai Ambani- after his death, disagreements occured in between two brothers. Then case went in court. And ends up with family apart and relation loss.

In conclusion, as every human has a different mind and personality. However, if they understand eachothers needs and respect their feelings, things will be more easy. Simply, big problems can be tackled easily in joint family as compare to nuclear family. I opine work togather in family business helps family to get success easily.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear opinion that family businesses have more benefits than drawbacks, and you address both sides with relevant points: trust, saving on hiring costs, stronger relationships, and possible conflict. The examples of two brothers and the Ambani family help illustrate your ideas. However, several points are asserted rather than explained—for instance, you do not show how trust improves business outcomes, and the relationship example is not fully convincing. The conclusion also shifts to joint versus nuclear families instead of directly weighing business advantages against disadvantages. The response is 248 words, so it does not meet the 250-word minimum. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation and ensure the conclusion directly answers the question.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph for advantages, a paragraph for disadvantages, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “On the other hand” help signal the direction of the argument. However, progression is sometimes mechanical, and some links are unclear or inaccurate. For example, “In this essay will explore its advantages further” is an incomplete transition, while “Then case went in court. And ends up with family apart” makes the example difficult to follow. The conclusion introduces the idea of joint and nuclear families without connecting it clearly to the earlier discussion. Use complete linking sentences and make each paragraph’s ideas build logically toward your final judgement.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “trust,” “conflicts,” “invest,” and “disagreements.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “first and foremost benefit.” However, the range is limited and several spelling, word-form, and collocation errors make the writing less natural, including “competative,” “togather,” “famouse,” and “trust is main the main key.” Some expressions are vague or awkward, such as “family apart and relation loss” and “things will be more easy.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than adding formal-sounding phrases. Proofread spelling and choose precise expressions, for example, “family relationships may deteriorate” instead of “relation loss.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional idea in “if they understand eachothers needs and respect their feelings.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include missing subjects or articles (“In this essay will explore”), subject–verb disagreement (“members of the family works,” “conflicts occurs”), and incorrect verb forms (“two brothers … runs”). Sentence boundaries are also problematic in “Then case went in court. And ends up with family apart,” and the opening of the conclusion is a fragment: “as every human has a different mind and personality.” Practise building complete sentences with accurate agreement and verb forms, and connect related clauses with appropriate punctuation.
