Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today world, it is common that family members can join work together in their family business.
Some people say that there are several benefits of family business but some people argue that it has more drawbacks than advanatges. I personally believe that working in family business has more pros than cons.
To begin with, family business has several benefits, first of all family members build more trust in business and share their responsibilities with each other. Moreover, they also support each in their difficult time.Secondly, family business can save so much money because family members may not need to hire many employees. For example, many small grocery shops and restaurants are managed by parents, children and other relatives. This will help them to earn money together and build a successful business.
However, there are some disadvantages. One major problem is that personal relationship effects personal decisions. For instance, family memebers may have different opinions abou how to run the business which leads to misunderstandings. Another disadvantage is that some family members may not have essential skills which ultimately leads to reduce pruductivity in business. In addition, it may be difficult to seperate personal life and work life especially when proffesionals problems discussed in home.
In conclusion, although working together with family memebers can sometimes create disagreements and management problems, I personally believe that the advantages are greater. Trust , teamwork and shared responsibilities can help family to create business successful while respecting each other opinions.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the question and state a clear position: you believe the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Relevant points include trust, shared responsibilities, lower staffing costs, disagreements, and family members lacking skills. The grocery-shop and restaurant example helps illustrate how relatives can work together. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, you mention that family members “support each” in difficult times without showing how this improves business outcomes, and the skills point could use a specific example. The response is also six words below the required minimum, so it does not fully meet the task instruction. Develop the main reasons with clearer explanation and examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion that restates your view. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Secondly,” “However,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. This coherent organisation is a strength. Some linking is mechanical, though, and a few connections between ideas are unclear. For instance, “This will help them to earn money together” follows the example but does not explain the link between saving on employees and business success. There are also missing spaces after full stops, which interrupt the presentation. Use a wider range of natural transitions and make the relationship between each example and its point explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “responsibilities,” “misunderstandings,” “essential skills,” and “productivity.” The contrast between “benefits” and “disadvantages” is also clear. However, the range is somewhat limited, with repeated general terms such as “business,” “family members,” and “problems.” Several inaccurate word choices or spellings reduce precision, including “effects” where “affects” is intended, “pruductivity,” “memebers,” and “seperate.” Phrases such as “support each in their difficult time” and “create business successful” are also unnatural. Build a more precise range of collocations for business relationships and outcomes, and proofread spelling and word forms so your meaning is consistently clear.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple sentences and some longer structures, including a contrast clause in “although working together with family members can sometimes create disagreements…” and a relative clause in “which leads to misunderstandings.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. Examples include “In today world” (missing possessive marking), “family members can join work together” (incorrect construction), and “family members may not have essential skills which ultimately leads” (agreement and clause structure). Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, as in “with each other. Moreover” and “Trust , teamwork.” Practise accurate articles, possessives, agreement, and sentence punctuation, while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
