Student answer (Band 6.0)
There are both pros and cons for this situation. If asked, the merits of this situation surpasses the demerits. My iclination is discussed in the ensuing paragraphs.
Discussing the advantages of having and operating a family business, the biggest is that less expenses. This is becuase there is no seek of employees that means no need to pay the salary. The profit as the income will be shared amongst the members who worked, saving the income going to outsiders. Furthermore, Work-life balance. This means that it could be flexibe based on the time and priorities. For example, one member can do opening and the other can do closing. Meanwhile, the third member can cook and do house chores and can visit the store or business to give rest to the others. I think this way it will be more supportive.
Moreover, useful for a child. The reason being, kid from the family owning a business gets the free and practical learning of how an actual business works from a very young age. This thing can led to their bright future in market. Another one is secure future. In other words, it can pass it through the next generation. If the heir of family wants to continue the supermacy, it is not so challanging to take a step.
On the contrary, there are some drawbacks too. To initiate with, business being closed during family event or emergencies. All the members can't attend any function together, if they do anyone of them has to sacrifice the family gathering. Additionally, No time for vacation together. Same problem will continue. In short, it is critical to attend or to visit anywhere without affecting the business. Besides this, members of family gettig stuck in an one and only way of income, which is a high risk. There are many factors through a business can be closed. In that case, family can loose their only income.
To conclude, there are few demerits such as risk and giving extra time and energy compared to the normal job but there are many merits like benefits in expenses, no need to pay extra for maintances if any member knows it, securing a child's future if they get no where else to work, they got their own business. However, my arguments prove that advantages of this situation are more than disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction—family businesses have more advantages—and the conclusion restates it. You address both sides with relevant points, including lower staffing costs, practical learning for children, succession, and the risk of losing the family’s sole income. This meets the task well. Some ideas, however, are less fully explained than others: the claim that family members mean “no need to pay the salary” overlooks that their work still has a cost, and the discussion of family events and holidays repeats a similar concern without showing its wider impact. To strengthen the response, explain each point more precisely and support key claims with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, paragraphs presenting advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “Furthermore,” “Moreover,” and “On the contrary” help readers follow the shift between points. The overall progression is coherent, but some connections feel mechanical or unclear. For example, “This means that it could be flexible” does not clearly identify what “it” refers to, and “Same problem will continue” repeats the previous point rather than developing it. The advantages paragraph also moves quickly between costs, work-life balance, and children’s learning. Use clearer topic sentences and link each explanation directly to its main point; vary transitions and avoid repeating the same idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “profit,” “practical learning,” “next generation,” and “only income,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, word choice, spelling, and collocation errors are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “iclination,” “supermacy,” “challanging,” and “getig,” as well as unnatural phrases such as “no seek of employees,” “saving the income going to outsiders,” and “secure future.” Some wording is also imprecise: “maintances” does not clearly express the intended repair costs. Build a more reliable range of business-related collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise phrasing would make your arguments clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including explanations introduced by “This is because” and conditional phrasing such as “if they do.” Meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation are evident. For instance, “the biggest is that less expenses” is an incomplete construction, while “the merits … surpasses” has a subject–verb agreement error. “There are both pros and cons for this situation. If asked” also needs sentence separation and clearer punctuation. Several fragments, such as “Furthermore, Work-life balance” and “Moreover, useful for a child,” interrupt the flow. Practise forming complete sentences around each main idea, checking agreement and articles, and using punctuation to separate clauses.
