Student answer (Band 6.0)
In many parts of the world, it is very comman to see relatives do work together in their family business. In my opinion, this trend has more benefits than drawbacks. Although people feel some concerns about family conflicts and lack of professionalism, I think that this development have more advantages like financial benefits and highly trust and loyalty. This essay will elaborate both benefits and drawbacks.
On the one hand, there are many reasons why people and I think this trend has more benefits. First of all, family business provide trust and loyalty as family members are free from any worrying and stress about the business financial system because usually family members have highly trust on each other. For example, In Punjab, state of India, most of the restaurants, street shops and jewelary shops run generation to generation. Another significant reason is all money comes in the same house as saves money for hiring outsiders. It trend provide better flexibility as no one need to create a drama about sick leave and can communicate easily with each other. As a result, people stays more happily and it create more powerful bond with family members.
On the other hand, despite the advantages it has some drawbacks. One of the primary disadvantages is some individuals feel lack of professionalism as they work with there relatives who stays in the same house which cause no strict rules as well as discipline is low. Furthermore, some individuals get job easily which cause they do not feel importance of work and job. They get job without any experience or higher study. Therefore, this development create nepotisim in the society.
In conclusion, family business has some disadvantages such as lack of professionalism and create nepotism, However, I think that business with family members have more advantages as it provide financial benefits and higher trust with loyalty.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you believe family businesses have more advantages, especially through trust, shared finances and flexibility. You also address the opposing view by discussing professionalism and nepotism, so the response covers both sides of the question. The Punjab example gives the discussion a relevant, concrete detail. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that relatives are “free from any worrying and stress about the business financial system” is unclear, and the flexibility point would be stronger with a specific explanation of how family members can adapt work arrangements. Develop each main reason with a clearer cause-and-effect explanation or example to make the argument more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion that restates your view. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the argument. This gives the essay a coherent progression, although some linking is mechanical and a few connections between ideas are unclear. For example, “Another significant reason” introduces saving money, but the relationship between this point and the preceding discussion of trust could be made more explicit. The sentence beginning “It trend provide better flexibility” also moves quickly from savings to flexibility. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each supporting detail directly to the paragraph’s main idea; vary transitions rather than relying mainly on formulaic markers.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “trust and loyalty,” “financial benefits,” “professionalism,” “discipline,” and “nepotism.” These choices show an attempt to discuss both the benefits and risks with some specificity. However, the range and control are uneven: several phrases are unnatural or imprecise, such as “highly trust,” “all money comes in the same house,” and “create a drama about sick leave.” Spelling errors, including “comman,” “jewelary,” and “nepotisim,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, describe shared income as “keeping profits within the family” and explain that relatives may “take time off without formal procedures,” rather than using conversational or unclear wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a concession in “Although people feel some concerns…” and a reason clause in “as family members are free…”. The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but errors occur across the response and sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “this development have” and “family business provide,” incorrect verb forms in “people stays” and “it create,” and sentence construction in “Another significant reason is all money comes in the same house as saves money.” There are also problems with articles, pronouns and punctuation. Practise building accurate sentences around one main clause, then add a subordinate clause only when its grammatical connection is clear.
