Student answer (Band 6.0)

In many nations, working together with family has increased singnificanlty to make their business more successful. Working with family in family business has advantages and disadvantages. In my opinion, family business outgh to run by family member as it has more advantages than drawbacks which I will mentioned in following paragraphs.

To begin with, working with family member in family owned business has one major benefit is it boosts economy. To expand it, members who work for same goal to become for successful and run their business, they work hard without any time limit. This way they can work longer hours and make more profit. For example, some stores run by their own relatives thus they have same goals to earn money, though they stayed longer time and manage their family. Additionally, having family member reduces the cost of employers. People who have their own member they save their money as they do not need to pay salaries and this money they can invest in other area. Therefore, family members work together in their businesses to earn more money, also they work hard and trustworthy.

There are some disadvantages of working in family owned businesses. One significant drawback is less focus on family. Most of the time family members work to earn more money which is why they pay less attention to family and children. Sometimes people need to focus on their children and family to maintain relations in society. This might affects their social life and conflit between them. Moreover, people who work in same business with practical knowledge however they have less skills regarding finance which leads to debt and all members need to suffer from this. Hence, people cannot manage their work-life as well as they might need to handle some difficult situation such as debts.

In conclusion, working with family member in same business is common in many countries. Although it has advantages and some disadvantges, benefits of working improves economy of the family and save money on employers outweigh drawbacks which can be solved by managing their timing and hiring financial advisor.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you believe the advantages of family businesses outweigh the disadvantages, and you discuss both sides before reaffirming this view. The economic benefits are relevant, particularly the points about family members working towards shared goals and reducing salary costs. You also identify possible effects on family relationships and financial management. However, some ideas are only partly explained: for example, the claim that family businesses “boosts economy” is not clearly distinguished from benefits to the family, and the example of stores run by relatives remains general. The discussion of debt and financial skills is also brief. To strengthen the response, explain each point more precisely and support it with a specific, developed example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion that restates your position. This makes the argument easy to follow. You also use signposting such as “To begin with,” “Additionally,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion.” At times, however, these links feel mechanical, and some connections between ideas are unclear. For instance, “Therefore” introduces a point that largely repeats the preceding benefits, while the sentence beginning “Most of the time” moves from work demands to family attention without fully explaining the link. Some references, such as “this money” and “this,” could be more precise. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make the relationship between each claim and its explanation explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main argument, including “family-owned businesses,” “salaries,” “financial advisor,” and “work-life.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make parts of the response less natural. Examples include “boosts economy,” “cost of employers,” “same goals,” and “manage their family”; these expressions do not convey the intended meaning precisely. There are also noticeable spelling errors such as “singnificanlty,” “outgh,” “conflit,” and “disadvantges.” Build a more accurate set of phrases for discussing business costs, shared objectives, and family relationships, and proofread spelling. More precise vocabulary would make your ideas clearer and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “which,” “as,” and “although,” and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, control is inconsistent, especially in longer sentences, and errors sometimes make the intended relationships difficult to follow. For example, “one major benefit is it boosts economy” has a faulty sentence pattern, while “This might affects” uses an incorrect verb form. In “members who work for same goal to become for successful,” the clause structure is incomplete, and “people who work in same business with practical knowledge however they have less skills” lacks a clear grammatical connection. Review articles, subject–verb agreement, verb forms, and how to join contrasting clauses. Aim for accurate complex sentences rather than adding several ideas to one sentence.
