Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requirements: you describe the theatre’s location, purpose and facilities, invite the actor to the opening, and explain that their popularity and experience could inspire young people. These details make the letter relevant and the purpose clear. The invitation would be stronger with a more complete explanation of the event, such as where the actor should arrive or what role they are expected to play beyond cutting the ribbon. The reasons for choosing this person are relevant but somewhat general: “popular figure” and “vast knowledge” could be supported with a specific reference to their work or influence. This covers the task well overall, though some points are less fully developed than others.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter follows a sensible sequence: invitation, theatre information, reasons for choosing the actor, and a closing request. Paragraphing helps distinguish these points, and connectors such as “In addition,” “Furthermore,” and “Overall” guide the reader through the information. The progression is generally clear, although the first paragraph combines the invitation and its justification before the theatre is introduced, and some transitions feel mechanical. The relationship between the actor’s professional knowledge and the community’s choice could also be linked more smoothly. To make the organisation more polished, group the theatre details together, then present the invitation and reasons in a clear sequence, using fewer formulaic connectors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the occasion, including “promoting arts and culture,” “seating arrangement,” “lighting system,” and “pursue acting career.” This gives you enough range to describe the venue and explain the actor’s potential influence. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “glade,” “well-know,” “honourned,” “knowlegde,” and “except” where “accept” is intended. Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “be guest” and “cut ribbon.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main message, but more accurate collocations and careful proofreading would make the letter sound more natural and professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, for example, “Our community thought that you be best person for this event as you have vast knowlegde of this profession.” The use of a reason clause with “as” shows an effort to connect ideas, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, verb forms and sentence construction: “The theatre has recently built” needs a passive form, while “you will ideal person” needs a linking verb and article. “We will delightful” also lacks the correct verb structure. These errors sometimes make the reader pause. Practise complete sentence patterns and check articles and verb forms to improve accuracy.
