Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: providing information about the theatre, issuing an invitation, and explaining why the actor is a suitable choice. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the description of the theatre is limited to location and time, lacking descriptive details that would make the invitation more compelling. Additionally, the explanation for why the actor is a good choice is repetitive and lacks specific examples of their work. While the tone is generally appropriate for a formal request, the content could be expanded to better persuade the recipient.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. The use of transition words like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Lastly' provides a logical structure. However, the cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and the flow between sentences is occasionally interrupted by grammatical errors. For instance, the transition in the final paragraph ('Lastly, I would like to discuss...') feels slightly forced and redundant given the previous paragraph. Referencing is generally clear, but the overall progression of ideas could be smoother to achieve a higher band score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are some instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'inviting you for opening' instead of 'inviting you to open' and 'vedios' (spelling error). The student relies on basic descriptors like 'good traits' and 'well-renowned'. To reach a higher band, the student should incorporate more sophisticated collocations and precise terminology related to the entertainment industry, such as 'inauguration', 'prestigious', or 'inspirational'. The current range is sufficient to convey the message but does not demonstrate flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'these plays a important role' (subject-verb agreement and article usage), 'center of city' (missing article), and '23th June' (incorrect ordinal suffix). Additionally, the sentence 'The main reason to provide these details is that you can attend...' is slightly clunky. While the meaning is always clear, the frequency of these minor errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher level of accuracy.
