Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You provided relevant details about the new theatre, such as the IMAX facilities and parking capacity. The invitation is clear, and you provided a logical reason for the actor's suitability by linking the event to the premiere of their new film. The tone is appropriate for a professional yet inviting letter. To improve, you could expand slightly on why this specific actor is the ideal choice beyond just the film premiere, perhaps by mentioning their contribution to the arts or their popularity in the region, which would add more depth to the development of your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task, which helps the reader follow your message easily. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Additionally' and 'Moreover', to link your sentences. However, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is slightly abrupt. To reach a higher band, ensure that your linking words are used more naturally and that the flow between paragraphs is smoother. Overall, the structure is clear and the purpose of the letter is evident from the beginning.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using terms like 'inaugurate', 'auspicious', and 'accommodate' correctly. The language is generally natural and appropriate for a formal business invitation. There are no significant spelling or word-choice errors that impede communication. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations or idiomatic expressions that are suitable for a formal context. For example, instead of 'reached a conclusion', you could use 'decided unanimously' or 'determined'. Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives would also enhance the impact of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
Your grammar is generally accurate, and you use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. Most sentences are error-free, and your punctuation is handled well. There are no major grammatical slips that cause confusion. To move to a higher band, try to incorporate a wider variety of complex grammatical structures, such as conditional sentences (e.g., 'If you were to accept, it would be a great honor...') or passive voice constructions to vary the rhythm of your writing. Your current control is solid, but more variety would demonstrate a higher level of grammatical flexibility.
