Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: it provides information about the theatre, extends an invitation, and explains why the actor is a suitable choice. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the description of the theatre is a bit generic, and the explanation of why the actor is a good fit could be more specific to his professional achievements rather than a general statement about his hard work. To reach a higher band, you should expand on these points with more descriptive detail and professional justification.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a distinct purpose. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the invitation and the closing. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Therefore' and 'However', though the transition between sentences could be smoother. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some sentences feel slightly disjointed. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the flow between sentences is more natural to guide the reader through your argument more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'opening ceremony', 'fastest growing', and 'socialize'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'It equipped with' (should be 'It is equipped with') and 'regardless of any ages' (which is slightly unnatural; 'people of all ages' would be better). The vocabulary is functional but lacks the sophistication or precision required for higher bands. Focusing on more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing will help elevate your score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that, while they do not impede communication, are noticeable. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'Kitchener is one of the fastest growing city' (should be 'cities') and 'this new location have' (should be 'has'). Additionally, there are missing articles and minor punctuation slips. To improve, pay closer attention to pluralization after 'one of the' and ensure consistent subject-verb agreement throughout your writing. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will also help.
