Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Salman sir,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to invite you for our new theatre inauguration ceremony.
I have been working with entertainment organization for now 10 years. We are planning to open new theatre next month. The theatre is located in the centre of the city, so that everyone can commute easily. It has 5 screens with a cafe area. We have a large parking space in the basement with all security. We would like to invite you for our opening event, as you have been working in the film industry for a long time, and this would be a perfect start for our new theatre.
Moreover, you have been a superstar in this industry, and you have done so many successful movies for our country, so you would be a great inspiration for our audience. Because of you we would grab local people's attention on the special day as well.
We look forward to seeing you in person on inauguration day. Thank you.
Yours faithfully,
Jaimin Padhiyar.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You provided relevant details about the theatre, such as its location and facilities, extended a clear invitation, and explained the actor's suitability based on their industry experience. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. To improve, you could provide more specific details about the theatre's unique features or the nature of the opening ceremony to further develop your ideas and demonstrate a more sophisticated approach to the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'because of you' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing is more precise. For example, the transition between the theatre description and the invitation could be smoother to create a more cohesive narrative throughout the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'inauguration ceremony', 'commute', and 'inspiration'. However, the vocabulary is somewhat basic and repetitive in places. Phrases like 'done so many successful movies' could be elevated to more precise collocations. There are also minor issues with word choice, such as 'grab local people's attention', which could be phrased more naturally. Expanding your range to include more topic-specific collocations would help you achieve a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is generally effective. However, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'working with entertainment organization' (missing an article) and 'for now 10 years' (awkward phrasing). Additionally, 'Because of you we would grab' lacks a comma after the introductory clause. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on article usage and refining sentence structure will help improve your accuracy.
