Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You provide information about the new theatre, extend a clear invitation, and explain why the actor is a suitable choice. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter, and the purpose is clear throughout. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, providing more specific details about the theatre's features or elaborating on why the actor's presence would specifically benefit the company's brand would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task. You use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Therefore', and 'Moreover' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. To improve, try to vary the way you connect sentences to ensure a more natural flow. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall structure makes the letter easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'inauguration', '4DX', and 'combination'. There are a few minor inaccuracies, such as 'in following days' (should be 'in the following days') and 'releasing of your new movie' (should be 'the release of your new movie'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message clearly, it lacks the more sophisticated or precise collocations that would characterize a higher band score. Focus on using more natural phrasing for professional correspondence.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'at Toronto' (should be 'in Toronto'), 'one of most popular actor' (should be 'one of the most popular actors'), and 'look forward for your response' (should be 'look forward to your response'). These errors do not impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions to improve your accuracy.
