Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Ajay,
I hope you are doing well. I have watched your last block blaster movie recently, and amazed with your acting skill. I am writing to give you an invitation to my company's newly open theater named "Devegn Cinema" which is located in city centre of Ahmedabad.
I have been working as a manager at Ekta entertainment company since 2020, where my role is to manage several influencer's social media platforms. We have been doing research about modern cinema from past few years and found out that all theaters in Ahmedabad has lack of modern facility, so we have established three story building for the cinema in the city centre with modernized Dolby sound system and large screens. We choose name Devegn from your surname that looks something unique among yur fans.
It would be great if you come on 25th September for grand opening of the cinema hall, where we will be offering 75% discount for all movies. I would appreciate that if you come for 1 or 2 hours and there will be huge rush of people and this will be a good opportunity to promote your new movie's last part "Drishyam".
As you are in movie industry since 1995, there are many people influenced by your acting skill. Short speech and photography session with you would make our event more interesting.
I hope you would love to visit our newly opened cinema hall.
Yours sincerely,
Manish Kundra

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You provided details about the new theatre, including its location and facilities, extended a clear invitation, and explained why the actor would be a suitable guest. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter, and the purpose is clear throughout. To improve, ensure that your explanations are slightly more formal; for instance, instead of saying 'I would appreciate that if you come', you could use 'I would be honoured if you could attend'. Overall, the response is well-developed and meets all the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into distinct paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the task. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from the introduction to the theatre details, the invitation, and finally the reasoning. You use some cohesive devices such as 'As you are in', 'It would be great if', and 'where we will be'. However, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that transitions between sentences are smoother. Some sentences feel slightly disjointed, but the overall structure is coherent and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'modernized', 'influencer', and 'promoted'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and minor errors, such as 'block blaster' instead of 'blockbuster', 'newly open' instead of 'newly opened', and 'has lack of' instead of 'lacks'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise word choice and better control over collocations. Expanding your vocabulary to include more sophisticated expressions would help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('all theaters... has lack of') and article usage ('in city centre'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and spelling errors, such as 'yur' and 'city centre' (which should be 'the city centre'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To reach a higher band, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring consistent verb tense usage.
