Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You provided clear information about the new theatre, including its size and facilities. The invitation is polite and direct, and you provided a logical justification for why the actor would be a suitable guest, specifically mentioning their connection to the local community. The tone is consistently appropriate for a formal business letter, and the purpose of the correspondence is clear from the outset. All requirements of the task have been met with sufficient detail.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The letter is well-organized with a clear logical progression. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task, which makes the information easy to follow. You have used cohesive devices effectively, such as 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'As one of the...', to link your ideas smoothly. The paragraphing is logical and contributes to the overall clarity of the message. The transition between the description of the theatre and the invitation is seamless, demonstrating a good command of text structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.0
You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message with precision. Phrases like 'guest of honour', 'exceptional entertainment venue', and 'considerable public interest' are well-chosen and appropriate for the formal context. There are no significant errors in word choice or collocation. While the vocabulary is functional and accurate, incorporating a few more sophisticated or idiomatic expressions could elevate the response further, but the current range is more than adequate for this task.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5
The writing displays a good variety of sentence structures, including both simple and complex forms. The grammar is accurate throughout, with no noticeable errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, or punctuation. You have demonstrated control over complex sentence structures, such as in the sentence 'As one of the country's best actors and a native of Ahmedabad, you have a strong connection with the local community.' The punctuation is used correctly, and the overall flow is natural and error-free.
