Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You provided relevant details about the theatre's capacity and facilities, extended a clear invitation, and justified your choice of guest by highlighting his influence. The tone is appropriate for a formal business letter. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, you could elaborate on how the actor's presence would specifically benefit the theatre's brand or community engagement. Overall, the response is purposeful and meets the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You used cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'Moreover,' and 'In addition' to link your ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the flow between sentences feels more natural rather than relying on a list-like structure. The referencing is clear throughout the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'inaugurate,' 'accommodate,' and 'state-of-the-art.' However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'Ahemdabad,' 'stright,' 'youngenration,' 'veramoney,' and 'plesure.' These errors are noticeable and detract from the professional tone of the letter. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, you need to focus on accuracy in spelling and word choice to achieve a higher band. Using more precise collocations would also enhance the quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'more then' instead of 'more than,' 'inspiration for youngenration' (missing article), and 'let us know you thoughts' (should be 'your'). Additionally, 'It would be are plesure' contains a basic error. These errors do not impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading your work to catch these minor slips in articles, prepositions, and basic sentence construction.
