Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points: providing information about the theatre, extending an invitation, and explaining why the actor is a suitable choice. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. The description of the theatre is vague, and the explanation for why the actor is a good choice relies on generic statements about their fame and a new movie release. While the purpose of the letter is clear, the tone is inconsistent, and the lack of a formal salutation (using 'Dear Sir or Madam' instead of a name) is a minor oversight given the prompt asks to write to a specific famous actor.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'Tobegain with' (To begin with) and 'Adding to this'. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the transitions between sentences feel somewhat disjointed. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the overall flow is hindered by the frequent grammatical errors, which force the reader to pause to interpret the intended meaning.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and frequently inaccurate. There are numerous spelling errors, such as 'inogration' (inauguration), 'famour' (famous), 'novemeber' (November), 'arregement' (arrangements), 'woulf' (would), 'lunch' (launched), and 'opperunity' (opportunity). These errors are frequent and occasionally impede the reader's understanding. The word choices are basic, and there is little evidence of an attempt to use less common or more precise vocabulary appropriate for a formal invitation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies primarily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences are consistently marred by grammatical errors. Examples include 'I am writing these regarding inviting you for inogration so new theatre' and 'the new theatre will in good sound quality'. There are persistent issues with verb tense, preposition usage, and article omission. While the meaning is generally discernible, the frequency of errors is high, which significantly impacts the overall quality of the writing.
