Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You have provided relevant details about the theatre, extended a clear invitation, and justified why the actor is a suitable choice. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter, and the purpose is clear from the outset. To reach a higher band, you could provide more specific details about the theatre's unique selling points or elaborate further on the actor's specific contributions to the industry to make the invitation feel more personalized and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt, which makes the structure easy to follow. You have used some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'We also plan to', which help link ideas. However, the transition between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother. Additionally, ensure that the closing salutation matches the opening; you used 'Dear Sir or Madam' but signed off with 'Your faithfully', which contains a minor grammatical error ('Your' instead of 'Yours').
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'inaugurate', 'memorable', and 'considerable attention'. The language is generally natural and appropriate for a formal business context. There are a few minor issues, such as 'capacity of sitting area' which is slightly awkward; 'seating capacity' would be more natural. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message clearly, incorporating a few more sophisticated collocations or topic-specific synonyms would help elevate the response to a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. However, there are some grammatical slips that occur throughout the text. For example, 'provide a lot of facilities' should be 'provides' (subject-verb agreement), and 'you inspired many people' should be 'you have inspired' (present perfect for past actions with present relevance). Additionally, 'Your faithfully' is a common error for 'Yours faithfully'. Despite these errors, the meaning is never obscured, and the communication remains clear throughout the letter.
