Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The student addresses all parts of the prompt: information about the theatre is given (capacity, location), the invitation is extended, and reasons for choosing the actor are provided. However, the tone is somewhat inconsistent for a formal business letter, and critically, the response falls short of the 150-word minimum, containing only 133 words. This under-length impacts the full development of ideas and requires a downward adjustment in the task achievement score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter maintains a basic logical flow and uses paragraph breaks to separate the introduction, body, and conclusion. However, cohesion is mechanical and basic, relying on simple connectors like 'and' or 'so'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall progression could be smoother if ideas were better connected and elaborated. Paragraphing is present, but the paragraphs are underdeveloped due to the overall brevity of the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but remains fairly limited and repetitive, with several spelling errors such as 'truely', 'thratre', 'maneger', 'sits', 'influance', 'socity', 'addvise', and 'responce'. While some attempts are made to use topic-specific vocabulary, the high frequency of spelling mistakes and basic word choices prevents the response from achieving a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'This theatre is going to be one of the biggest theatre in our country and It has 500 sits for the audience.' However, there are noticeable grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('This theatre... have' or incorrect pluralisation like 'one of the biggest theatre') and punctuation errors. These errors occur frequently throughout the short text, though they do not completely impede overall communication.
