Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response successfully covers all three bullet points required in the task instructions. The writer introduces the entertainment company and provides specific information about the new theatre, including its location in Mississauga and the opening date and time on Friday, October 07, 2026. Furthermore, the letter clearly invites the actor Salman Khan and adequately explains why he would be the ideal person for the inauguration, citing his blockbuster movies, outgoing attitude, and role-model status. The tone is appropriate for a professional yet enthusiastic invitation. All parts of the prompt are addressed clearly and relevantly, positioning this comfortably at Band 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter maintains a clear logical progression throughout, moving smoothly from the initial introduction and event details to the justification for the invitation and the concluding remark. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as the event specifics in the first paragraph and the reasoning behind the choice of guest in the second. Cohesive devices like 'In addition' and 'Effectively' are utilised, although referencing and sentence connection are occasionally slightly mechanical (e.g., 'Effectively, boost the popularity'). Overall, the organisation is coherent and easy to follow, supporting a solid Band 6.5 or 7.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for a formal business-to-personal invitation, incorporating phrases like 'inauguration', 'blockbuster movies', and 'regular patrons'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'on the presence of such a great personality' instead of 'in the presence of', and the sentence fragment 'will definitely a perfect person'. Less common vocabulary is attempted with mixed precision. While these lexical slips do not impede communication, they prevent the response from achieving a higher band, placing it firmly at Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student employs a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses ('who is well known for...') and conditional/participial ideas. However, there are notable grammatical errors and punctuation slips throughout the text. For instance, the opening sentence contains a comma splice ('I hope you are doing well, I am working...'), and the phrase 'will definitely a perfect person' lacks a main verb. Additionally, prepositional usage is occasionally flawed ('at Mississauga location' instead of 'in Mississauga'). Despite these errors, meaning remains clear and communication is not impeded, warranting a Band 6.0.
