Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Salman Khan,
I hope you are doing well. I am working for a Colors entertainment company and we are planning to open a new theatre soon this fall. I am writing this letter to invite you to the inauguration of our new theatre at the Mississauga location. The opening of our new cinema is on Friday, October 07, 2026 running from 12 pm to 5 pm which would be the best time of the year.
I strongly believe that, in the presence of such a great personality who is well known for his blockbuster movies and outgoing attitude towards people is definitely a perfect person for opening of our theatre. In addition, as you are a role model to many fans your appearance will attract and encourage many people to visit our theatre. Effectively, it will boost the popularity and convert first-time visitors into regular patrons.
I presume you will accept my invitation and be the reason for our new theatre's success. Hope to hear from you soon.
Warm regards,
Wafiya

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all bullet points of the task. You gave specific information about the new theatre by mentioning the location in Mississauga and the opening date and time, such as 'Friday, October 07, 2026 running from 12 pm to 5 pm'. You also extended a clear invitation to the actor and explained why he would be suitable by highlighting his blockbuster movies, outgoing attitude, and role-model status. Your tone is polite and appropriate for a formal business letter. The task requirements are fully covered with well-developed ideas, earning a solid band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
Your letter is logically organised with a clear beginning, body paragraphs addressing the prompt requirements, and an appropriate sign-off. You used cohesive devices effectively to connect your ideas, such as 'In addition' and 'Effectively'. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, separating the introductory details, the justification for the invitation, and the concluding remarks. The progression of ideas flows smoothly throughout the text, allowing the reader to follow your message without any confusion. Cohesion is well managed overall.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrated an adequate to good range of vocabulary for this task, incorporating functional phrases like 'inauguration', 'blockbuster movies', and 'regular patrons'. There are minor phrasing issues, such as writing 'a Colors entertainment company' rather than 'Colors entertainment company' and 'outgoing attitude towards people', but these do not impede communication. You successfully attempted less common vocabulary to convey your ideas clearly and professionally. With slightly more precise collocations and a wider range of sophisticated phrasing, you could reach an even higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
You have used a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'I strongly believe that, in the presence of such a great personality who is well known for his blockbuster movies... is definitely a perfect person...' However, there is a minor grammatical slip in that sentence with subject-verb agreement regarding 'personality' and 'is'. Punctuation and sentence boundaries are mostly well controlled, and your errors are infrequent enough that they do not impede communication at all. The majority of your sentences are accurate and clear.
