Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response successfully covers all bullet points required in the task instructions. You provide relevant information about the new theatre by mentioning its capacity, square footage, and special amenities such as IMAX and 5D experiences. You extend a clear invitation for Salman to act as a VIP guest and specify the time of the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Furthermore, you explain why he is a suitable person for this role by praising his long-standing career, phenomenal contributions to the entertainment industry, and inspiring character roles. The tone is appropriate for a formal business invitation letter, maintaining a polite and respectful register throughout. All key elements of the prompt are fully developed, earning a strong band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter exhibits a clear logical organisation with a natural progression from the purpose of the letter to details about the venue, the specific invitation, and finally the reasons for selecting Salman. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as venue specifications in the second paragraph and reasons for the invitation in the fourth paragraph. Cohesive devices are generally well managed, with appropriate referencing like 'The center' and 'This theatre'. However, some transitions could be smoother, and minor mechanical linking issues appear, such as in the concluding paragraphs. Overall, the ideas flow logically and are easy to follow, supporting a solid performance in this category.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your ideas with some precision and flexibility. Phrases such as 'officially invite', 'inauguration', 'exclusive features', and 'phenomenal' show a good grasp of appropriate terminology for a formal invitation. However, there are a few lexical inaccuracies and spelling errors, such as 'accomodate' (accommodate), 'full-recyliner' (full-recliner), 'throiugh' (through), and 'truely' (truly). Additionally, the phrase 'Nobody can be as important than you are' is somewhat unnatural in collocation and phrasing. Despite these minor errors, the vocabulary is adequate to communicate your message effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response includes a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating decent control over grammar. You successfully use relative clauses and compound sentences, such as 'We have seen you for more than 25 years and you are ruling since then.' However, there are notable grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, including 'will be taken place' (should be 'will take place'), missing articles like 'in whole Navi Mumbai' (in the whole of Navi Mumbai), and tense inconsistencies like 'you are ruling since then' (you have been ruling since then). Punctuation is generally acceptable, though the sign-off 'Your's sincerely' contains an incorrect apostrophe. The frequency of these errors places the writing firmly in this band.
