Dear Diljit Dosanjh,

I hope you are enjoying your week.

I am writing to warmly invite you for the opening ceremony of the new theatre "The Welcome" in Ludhiana, India on September 30,2026 at 4pm.

I am a big fan of your acting and singing and this is the grand starting of the platform related to your field as well. So your presence will be a great moment for the whole organisation with full enjoyment.

The entire entertainment company is looking for the world famous performer to welcome for the beginning hours of their remarkable career and best wishes. Your presence would mean alot to us, as all our team members are enjoying your music and movies from many years. If your schedule allows, we would be glad to have you as our special guest.

Please let me know, if you are able to make it. I will be looking forward for your reply.

Your's sincerely,

Aman

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response successfully covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You successfully introduce the new theatre "The Welcome" in Ludhiana with specific details such as the opening date and time, fulfilling the first bullet point. You extend a warm and clear invitation to the actor Diljit Dosanjh, meeting the second requirement. Furthermore, you explain why he would be a suitable person by mentioning that you are a big fan and that this is a grand starting point in a related field. The tone is appropriately polite and semi-formal for a letter to a celebrity. All parts of the prompt are well addressed without any significant omissions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter exhibits a clear and logical organisation from the opening salutation through to the final sign-off. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, details of the event, reasons for the invitation, and the closing remarks. Cohesive devices are generally well managed, such as the use of "So your presence" and "If your schedule allows". However, some referencing is slightly repetitive, and paragraph transitions could be smoother to achieve a higher band score. Overall, the message flows naturally and is easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully conveying the intended meaning. You demonstrate attempts at less common phrasing such as "opening ceremony" and "world famous performer". However, there are some minor word-choice inaccuracies and awkward collocations, such as "grand starting of the platform related to your field" and "enjoying your music and movies from many years" (which should be 'for many years'). Despite these slips, communication is never impeded, and the tone remains respectful throughout.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional forms ("If your schedule allows, we would be glad..."). There are some grammatical errors and punctuation slips, notably the incorrect sign-off "Your's sincerely" (should be 'Yours sincerely') and a missing apostrophe in "mean alot" (should be 'mean a lot'). Additionally, comma placement around dates needs refinement ("September 30,2026"). However, these errors do not impede overall communication and the majority of simple sentences are accurate.
