Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response successfully covers all parts of the task prompt. You clearly provided relevant information about the new theatre, describing its three floors, capacities, and facilities such as ticket counters and restrooms. You appropriately invited the recipient, Mr. James, to open the venue, adopting a suitable tone for a professional correspondence. Furthermore, you explained why he would be an ideal person for the job, referencing his past guidance to your company and offering an opportunity to promote his upcoming movie. All bullet points are fully addressed and supported with relevant details, demonstrating a strong understanding of General Training correspondence requirements. Therefore, this performance comfortably achieves a solid band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organised with a clear beginning, body paragraphs dedicated to specific topics, and a standard closing. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the description of the building from the invitation and reasoning. Cohesive devices are generally used effectively, such as 'Additionally', 'As a marketing director', and 'Therefore', which help guide the reader smoothly through the text. However, referencing and cohesive links are sometimes slightly mechanical, and transitions between sentences could occasionally be smoother. Overall, the message flows well and the progression of ideas is clear from start to finish, fulfilling the criteria for a band 7.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is adequate and generally appropriate for a professional letter. You successfully use functional business and entertainment-related vocabulary such as 'marketing director', 'formally invite', and 'upcoming movie'. However, there are a few lexical and collocational inaccuracies. For instance, writing 'which comprises five mini theatres' after stating 'three floors' is slightly confusing, and phrases like 'helped us to became who we are today' contain tense/verb errors. You also wrote 'has ability to occupied' instead of 'has the capacity to accommodate' or 'is able to accommodate 300 audience members'. Despite these limitations and occasional awkward word choices, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message clearly, earning a band 6.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms throughout the letter, such as 'When our company started our business your guidance and ideas really helped us...' There are, however, several grammatical errors that catch the reader's attention. For example, 'scheduled on 27th of December' should ideally be 'scheduled for the 27th of December', and 'In the first floor' should be 'On the first floor'. Additionally, 'accomodate' is a spelling error, and 'has ability to occupied' contains both a missing article and an incorrect verb form. While these errors do not impede overall communication, their frequency prevents the grammar score from rising into the higher bands. Control of basic structures is good, but complex structures show intermittent inaccuracy.
