Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You successfully gave information about the new theatre by mentioning its modern features, size, and location. You clearly invited John to open the theatre on September 20, 2026, and explained why he would be a good person for the role, citing his popularity across generations and his large social media following. However, the development of some ideas is relatively brief and basic. To reach a higher band, the information and explanations could be extended with more specific details about the venue's purpose and the nature of the opening event. Overall, all parts of the task are adequately addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter follows a recognizable format with a greeting and sign-off, although the capitalization and punctuation are faulty throughout (e.g., lowercase 'dear john'). The ideas are arranged in a logical sequence, moving from the introduction of the company to the details of the theatre, the reasons for the invitation, and finally the specific date and call to action. Paragraphing is attempted, but the main body block is quite dense and combines multiple distinct points. Cohesive devices are very basic and sometimes repetitive or awkward, such as 'Also' and 'So, from the behave of'. Referencing is mostly clear, but the overall organization would benefit from better paragraph breaks and smoother transitions between ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, but it is limited and repetitious. You use basic terms like 'big sound system', 'big stage', and repeating the verb 'love' multiple times ('people love you', 'how everyone loves you'). There are several noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations, such as 'the theatre was highly equiped' (spelling), 'easy to asseable' (incorrect word choice for accessible), and 'from the behave of' (incorrect preposition and noun form). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they restrict the vocabulary score to the lower-middle bands. Attempting a wider variety of precise, topic-specific vocabulary with correct spelling and word forms will help improve this score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'our company think that you the perfect fit... because people love you and you are very popular'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, and article usage. Examples include 'my entertainment company open a new theatre soon' (should be 'is opening'), 'Company wents you' (should be 'wants'), 'the theatre was highly equiped' (tense consistency), 'located centre in the town' (word order/preposition), and 'Your personality are very bold' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation and capitalization are also poorly controlled, with missing capital letters at the beginnings of sentences. These errors require some effort from the reader to parse.
