Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response only partially addresses the task requirements. While the writer attempts to invite the actor and mentions some basic information about the theatre, the bullet points are not fully developed. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met; the response contains only 109 words, falling significantly short of the 150-word minimum. The writer also copies the prompt instructions directly into the body of the letter rather than formulating original content, which limits task fulfillment. To improve, ensure all prompt bullet points are thoroughly expanded with relevant details, and make certain the essay meets the minimum word count.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The response shows very basic organization with some paragraphing, but overall coherence is severely hindered by the lack of clear progression and inadequate paragraph structure. Sentences are disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is minimal and mechanical. Phrases like 'Acording to the given information it is clear that' are inappropriate for a personal letter format and disrupt the flow. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to group ideas logically, use appropriate cohesive devices to connect sentences smoothly, and ensure appropriate paragraphing throughout the letter.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive. There are multiple spelling and capitalization errors, such as 'salmaan', 'famouse', 'cventre', and 'buliding'. The writer relies heavily on simple words and copies phrases directly from the prompt instructions. There is little attempt to use less common or more precise lexical items suitable for an invitation letter. To improve lexical resource, the student should expand their vocabulary, practice correct spelling, and learn appropriate collocations for professional and semi-formal correspondence.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

Grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting mostly of simple sentence structures. There are frequent and systematic errors in punctuation and capitalization, including lowercase 'i', missing punctuation, and incorrect spacing around commas and periods (e.g., 'notice that I work', 'clear that, however'). Verb tenses and sentence boundaries are poorly controlled. To improve, the writer needs to practise forming accurate simple and complex sentences, pay closer attention to capitalization and punctuation rules, and proofread their work to eliminate basic errors.
