Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all parts of the task successfully. You provided details about the new theatre, such as its location in the centre of the city and its state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. You also clearly extended an invitation to the actor and explained why he would be an ideal person to open the venue, mentioning his experience, talent, and ability to inspire young actors. Your tone is appropriately polite for a formal letter to a celebrity. While some ideas could be slightly more elaborated, all bullet points from the prompt are fully covered, making this a solid performance that fits well within the criteria.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
Your letter has a clear overall structure and a logical progression of ideas. You used paragraphing appropriately to separate different topics, such as introducing the theatre, extending the invitation, and explaining your reasoning. You employed cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', and 'Moreover' to guide the reader through your letter. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and punctuation issues at the sentence level occasionally disrupt the flow. Overall, the organization is clear and easy to follow, supporting the communication of your message effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrated an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'state-of-the-art', 'ambiance', and 'ceremony'. However, there are some noticeable lexical and collocational errors throughout the response, such as writing 'invite you in' instead of 'invite you to', and spelling mistakes like 'innograte' (inaugurate) and 'audiance' (audience). Despite these inaccuracies, meaning is never impeded, and your vocabulary choices adequately convey your message to the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You used a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over grammar. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding capitalization (e.g., 'shahrukh', 'i', 'october'), preposition usage ('invite you in', 'location in centre'), and verb tenses ('which will be open', 'i am eagerly wait'). Punctuation also needs attention, notably missing commas after introductory transition words. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur regularly enough to prevent you from achieving a higher band score.
