Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all three bullet points required in the task instructions. You successfully provided information about the new theatre, mentioning features like the 3D screen, Dolby sound system, and seating capacity. You also clearly extended an invitation to the actor and explained why they would be a suitable person to open the venue, pointing out their blockbuster films and popularity. The tone is mostly appropriate for a formal business letter, though there are slight lapses into semi-informal phrasing like 'we feel glad if you come'. The purpose of the letter is clear throughout, and all parts of the prompt are addressed adequately, placing this response comfortably at Band 6.5 to Band 7.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is divided into logical paragraphs that separate different topics, such as theatre details, reasons for the invitation, and logistical arrangements. Ideas are generally linked, and referencing is mostly clear. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or abrupt, as seen in transitions like 'Additionally, It has' or 'So people can freely enjoy'. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to structure the letter, and the salutation and sign-off follow standard letter formats. While the progression of ideas is logical, minor faults in cohesive devices and punctuation prevent it from reaching the higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'honourable guest', 'blockbustard' (intended as blockbuster), and 'consideration'. There are several noticeable spelling and word choice errors, including 'Missisuaga' (Mississauga), 'aroung' (around), 'arrange' (arranged), 'blockbustard' (blockbusters), 'heartly' (heartily), and 'strickt' (strict). Despite these inaccuracies, communication is not impeded, and the meaning remains clear throughout the letter. The vocabulary is minimally sufficient to convey the intended message.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and relative clauses. There are several grammatical errors and punctuation slips throughout the text, including lowercase starting letters for sentences ('we feel glad', 'It has', 'we also'), incorrect tense usage ('It is held' instead of 'It will be held'), and capitalization errors ('Missisuaga', 'Monday'). While these errors are frequent, they rarely impede communication, and you demonstrate a fair control over basic sentence structures, ensuring the reader can follow the invitation easily.
