Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The candidate has successfully addressed all bullet points of the task prompt. The letter begins appropriately and gives clear information about the new theatre in a posh area of Mumbai. The invitation is explicitly extended to the actor, Mr. Balich, to open the facility as the chief guest for the opening ceremony. Furthermore, the response successfully explains why he would be a good person for this role, mentioning that he is a rising star and the debutant of their latest movie collaboration, which would motivate youngsters. The tone is generally appropriate for a business-to-individual invitation letter. Ideas are well-developed and fulfil all requirements of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organised with a clear beginning, body paragraphs that progress smoothly through the required points, and an appropriate closing sign-off. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate distinct ideas, such as the theatre description, the invitation, and the justification. Cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'Consequently', and 'Since' are employed to connect clauses and sentences, though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or are impacted by minor grammatical slips. Overall, the progression of information is easy to follow, supporting a coherent and structured message.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The candidate demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'recreational amenity', 'exclusive news', and 'debutant actor'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'Drametic Production company' (Dramatic), 'recieve' (receive), and 'cremony' (ceremony). Phrases like 'encouraged by adults significanly on the social media platforms' are also somewhat awkward. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they prevent the score from reaching a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including relative clauses and subordinate clauses initiated by 'Since' and 'Moreover'. However, there are several grammatical errors and omissions of articles throughout the text, such as 'I am Kaveri, who works as the senior manager in well-known...' (missing article 'a'), 'not only youngster gets motivation' (pluralisation and article issues), and 'centre gets popularity in at the time of the launch' (preposition misuse). Punctuation and verb agreement occasionally falter, though meaning remains understandable.
