Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You successfully provided some information about the new theatre, mentioning its location on Bay street and its capacity of up to 1000 seats. You also clearly invited Mr. Sharma to open the theatre as the chief guest, and explained why he would be suitable by referencing his acting career and professional experience. Although the ideas are somewhat basic and contain minor development limitations, all parts of the task are adequately addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement, and the purpose of the communication is clear from the beginning. However, paragraphing is underdeveloped, as the body of the letter is clumped together into overly dense blocks with limited use of cohesive devices. For instance, transitional phrases between sentences are quite basic, leading to a mechanical flow. Referencing is generally clear, but the lack of proper paragraph breaks impacts the overall logical progression of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, featuring basic items and a few attempts at less common phrasing such as 'inaugration' and 'chief guest'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'inaugration' instead of 'inauguration', 'onening' instead of 'opening', 'theature' instead of 'theatre', and 'cheif' instead of 'chief'. Word choices are sometimes unnatural, for example 'did a lot of films' or 'located on the downtown'. While communication is not impeded, these lexical errors restrict the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

You attempted a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over basic sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'upto 1000 seats at a time', 'comfortable sitting area', and 'becuase you already have in this profession'. Punctuation and spacing errors are also noticeable, including missing spaces after commas and periods. Despite these errors, the meaning remains understandable, aligning with the requirements of band 5.0.
