Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Pratik,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to invite you to the opening ceremony of our new theatre. I would like to brief you on our plan.
I'm working in a full-time position at Sony Entertainment Company. It has been 5 years of being a customer service representative, I have been asked to arrange the ceremony for the new theatre. We already have four theatres in India, but we are opening a new one in Etobicoke, Canada, in front of the Albion Mall and Martin Grove intersection.
There are several features to it. To commence with, it has 250-plus seating capacity with 4DX and 5DX experiences. In addition to that, it has five superior-quality curved screens with amazing audio- visual effects. Consequently, fans would leave with satisfaction and joy. The primary reason for choosing you is your popularity among youngsters. You are a great influencer and a content creator.
I would be more than happy if u accept our invitation. I look forward to your response.
Yours sincerely,
Devanshi Vasani

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all three bullet points required in the prompt successfully. You provide details about the new theatre, including its location in Etobicoke, Canada, and its features such as its seating capacity and advanced screens. You invite the actor clearly and explain why they are a suitable choice by noting their popularity among youngsters and influence as a content creator. However, the tone of the opening paragraph is slightly informal and abrupt for a professional invitation to a celebrity. Additionally, addressing the actor by first name ("Dear Pratik,") in a formal invitation to a famous person feels a bit unusual, though acceptable in some casual contexts. Overall, all parts of the task are addressed adequately, fitting the criteria for a Band 6.5 or 7.0 response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter has a clear overall progression, moving from the greeting and introduction to details about the theatre, features, reasons for the invitation, and finally a polite closing. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as the company background, theatre features, and the invitation rationale. Cohesive devices are employed, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical, such as "To commence with," and "Consequently, fans would leave with satisfaction and joy." Referencing is generally clear, and the structure allows the reader to follow the writer's purpose easily, placing the performance comfortably within the Band 7 range.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to complete the task with some flexibility and precision. Phrases such as "customer service representative," "superior-quality curved screens," and "audio-visual effects" show a good handle on relevant terminology. There are some minor lexical choices that could be more natural, such as saying "It has been 5 years of being a customer service representative" rather than "Having worked for 5 years as a customer service representative." Overall, the vocabulary is adequate and allows for clear communication, aligning well with the Band 6.5 standards.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writing includes a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as "I'm working in a full-time position at Sony Entertainment Company" and "The primary reason for choosing you is your popularity among youngsters." There are some minor grammatical errors and informal slips, such as "if u accept our invitation" (using the text abbreviation "u" instead of "you") and "It has been 5 years of being a customer service representative, I have been asked..." which results in a comma splice. Despite these occasional errors, communication is not impeded, demonstrating a solid Band 6 performance.
