Our new theatre is centrally located in the city with having capacity of occupying 500 to 800 seats. In addition to that, we have all modern technologies in sound, lighting and excellent stage. The main purpose for opening this new theatre is to host plays, concerts, comedy and support local performances also this theatre will support local artist to show case their talent. The opening ceremony is on December 8 in the morning.

It would be great honour to have you to attend the official opening ceremony. As I have mentioned early the ceremony date is on December 8 at 10:00 a.m. Also we would like you to cut the ribbon and declare the official opening of the theatre.

Given a successful career and strong connection with the local community everyone admire your story and get motivated. Secondly, as you have a great popularity among people and media which could attract attention towards the theatre.

I hope that you will be able to accept our kind invitation. Looking forward to your prompt response.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers all parts of the prompt well. You successfully provide information about the new theatre, such as its central location, seating capacity, and modern technology. You also clearly invite the actor to open the facility and explain why they would be a suitable choice due to their successful career, strong community connection, and popularity. The tone is appropriate for a letter of invitation, and the purpose is clear throughout. Minor details, such as the exact date and time, are repeated slightly in the second and third paragraphs, but overall all bullet points are fully addressed, earning a solid band score for this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall progression, with distinct paragraphs dedicated to different parts of the task, such as the introduction of the theatre, the invitation details, and the justification for choosing the actor. Cohesive devices are used adequately, though some transitions are a bit mechanical or repetitive, such as 'In addition to that' and 'Secondly'. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate ideas logically, and referencing is generally clear throughout the text, allowing the reader to follow the message easily without confusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for a semi-formal invitation, using terms such as 'centrally located', 'opening ceremony', and 'local community'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'happy group' (likely meant 'our happy group' or the company name) and 'show case' (should be 'showcase' as one word). Additionally, phrases like 'great honour to have you to attend' contain minor grammatical awkwardness regarding collocation. The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate your message clearly, but precision could be improved.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms. There are several grammatical errors and awkward structures present, such as 'with having capacity of occupying' (which should be 'with a capacity of' or 'capable of accommodating') and 'Given a successful career' (missing a subject or possessive pronoun like 'Given your successful career'). Punctuation and article usage also need attention in places, such as missing articles before singular nouns. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they prevent the score from reaching higher bands.
