Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir,

I am very huge fan of you. I am writing this letter to invite you for opening a new theatre.

I am working as a event manager at the fun entertainment company, which has been working for several years. Now, it is a very famous entertainment company as you might familiar with this company name. We are planning to open a new theatre in the film city area because this area is appropriate for entertainmnet purpose as most of the cinema theatres are already established, and we are aiming to open a largest theatre in the country.

On this special occasion, we are pleased to invite you to open a new theatre and make this opening ceremony memorable. We would be delighted if you could join us and accept our invitation. All the formalities and terms we have already discussed with your manager.

Our company believe that you are the most suitable celebrity to open the theatre, because you are already a big part of entertainment industry. You have been working in this industry for around forty years, and that is the reason that you are the most famous person in the entertainment industry. Therefore, we are fortunate, if you accept our invitation and make this opening more special.

Looking forward to your response.

Yours faithfully,

Hardik

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response successfully covers all the bullet points outlined in the prompt. You gave clear information about the new theatre by mentioning its location in the film city area and stating the ambition to open the largest theatre in the country. You included a direct invitation to the actor to open the new theatre and explained why they are a suitable choice, citing their forty years of experience in the entertainment industry. The tone is appropriate for a professional yet enthusiastic letter, and the purpose is clear throughout. All requirements of the task have been addressed effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organised with a clear beginning, middle paragraphs addressing the prompt requirements, and a polite sign-off. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different points, such as company background, the invitation details, and the justification for choosing the actor. Cohesive devices are generally used adequately, though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'entertainment company' and 'industry'. Overall progression is clear, and the referencing between sentences is mostly easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common phrases such as 'event manager', 'opening ceremony', and 'suitable celebrity'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as writing 'I am very huge fan of you' instead of 'a huge fan', and 'invite you for opening' instead of 'invite you to open'. Spelling is generally correct, but the repetition of basic lexical items like 'entertainment' and 'company' limits the flexibility and precision of your vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'I am working as a event manager at the fun entertainment company, which has been working for several years.' There are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings, including missing or incorrect articles ('a event manager', 'the largest theatre'), preposition errors ('for opening'), and subject-verb agreement or adjective issues ('company believe', 'very huge fan'). While these errors are present, they do not impede overall communication.
