Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The candidate successfully covers all three bullet points required by the task prompt. First, information about the new theatre is provided, including its size of 2,200 square feet, a capacity of 1,500 people, an automatic lighting system, and an inbuilt food court. Second, the invitation to open the theatre is clearly stated. Finally, the response explains why Ram would be a good person to open the venue, citing personal admiration, his inspirational movies, and his status as a global star. The tone is appropriately polite and conversational for a letter to a famous actor. All parts of the prompt are addressed with relevant ideas, though the details are somewhat basic, placing this securely at Band 6.5 to Band 7.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter has a clear overall progression, with paragraphs dedicated to different themes such as the theatre details, the invitation, and personal reasons for choosing the actor. Cohesive devices like 'Furthermore', 'Also', and 'While making this' are used, though some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced, such as 'While making this theatre is high quality of sound system being used'. Paragraphing is handled reasonably well to separate the introduction, body points, and conclusion, though paragraph two is quite dense and combines multiple points. Referencing is generally clear, though minor awkwardness in cohesion prevents a higher score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with attempts at less common items such as 'memorable', 'automatic lightning system', 'inbuilt food court', and 'global star'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'biggest theatre in the area with area of 2200 square ft' instead of 'an area of', 'seating area could easily accompany 1500 audience' instead of 'accommodate 1,500 audience members', and 'lightining' (a spelling error for lighting). The phrase 'always motivates me do better' is missing the preposition 'to'. Despite these flaws, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning without causing major misunderstandings.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'I would like to invite you to our new theatre opening ceremony next week in Chandigarh' and 'I am watching your movies when I was 8 years old'. However, there are several noticeable grammatical errors, particularly tense inconsistencies (e.g., 'I am watching your movies when I was 8 years old' should use the past continuous or present perfect) and article omissions (e.g., 'with area of 2200 square ft' and 'is high quality of sound system being used'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but frequent minor errors in grammar and word order prevent the entry from reaching Band 7.0.
