Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully covers all three bullet points required in the task instructions. You clearly provide information about the new theatre by mentioning its location, size, and screen facilities such as 3D and 4D MAX. You directly invite the actor to the opening ceremony scheduled for 10th October 2026. Furthermore, you explain why he would be an ideal person to open the venue, noting that he is popular with youngsters due to his kindness and discipline, and that his presence would help promote the brand. All parts of the task are adequately addressed with relevant ideas, earning a solid band score for this criterion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter maintains a clear overall progression and follows a logical letter-writing structure, starting with an appropriate greeting, moving through the purpose of the message, details of the event, reasons for the invitation, and concluding politely. Paragraphing is used to separate different points, such as event details versus reasons for the invitation, although some paragraphs could be structured with better internal flow. Cohesive devices are generally present, but referencing and linking can be slightly mechanical at times, such as the sudden transition using 'And inaugurating with...' and 'We also have many fans...'. Overall, the organization is coherent and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to successfully communicate your message about the theatre opening. You attempt some less common lexical items and collocations, such as 'consecutive blockbuster movie', 'opening ceremony', and 'interact with them'. However, there are a few lexical inaccuracies and missing articles, such as 'success for third consecutive' instead of 'success with your third consecutive', and a spelling slip with 'opporturnity'. Despite these occasional errors in word choice and spelling, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning without impeding comprehension.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms throughout the letter. Examples include relative and purpose clauses, such as 'so that audience can enjoy the movies'. However, there are noticeable grammatical errors, particularly regarding article usage and prepositions, such as 'developing new theatre from last 5 years' instead of 'for the last 5 years' and 'with regard to invite' instead of 'with regard to inviting'. Punctuation is generally fine, but missing articles and minor structural awkwardness prevent the grammar score from rising higher. These errors do not impede communication, but they highlight a need for closer accuracy.
