Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response covers all three bullet points required by the task instructions. You successfully explain that you work for an entertainment company planning to open a new theatre, invite the actor Atif Aslam to open it, and provide reasons why he is a suitable person, such as his global popularity and ability to motivate youth in Pakistan. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and relies on a casual, conversational tone rather than a formal or semi-formal business letter style appropriate for reaching out to a celebrity. Additionally, some descriptions, such as mentioning 'musician instruments' alongside a 1000-person capacity, are slightly underdeveloped and imprecise. These limitations place the response at a Band 5.5 level for Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The letter lacks proper paragraphing, as the entire response is written as one single, long run-on block of text. This makes the progression of ideas feel rushed and difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes overused or repetitive, such as starting multiple clauses with 'so', 'and', or 'as'. For example, the sentence 'SO, basically in this theatre there are lot of luxury things... and so we would like to invite you as you are the the goat... so it will be our great honor...' chains multiple ideas together with coordinating conjunctions rather than structuring them into clear, distinct sentences and paragraphs. These organizational weaknesses support a Band 5.0 score.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, featuring informal slang and conversational expressions like 'the goat of the music industry' and 'luxury things', which are unsuitable for a professional invitation letter. There are also noticeable lexical inaccuracies, such as 'informed' instead of 'inform', 'musician instruments' instead of 'musical instruments', and 'upcoming rising stars'. While the message is understandable, the limited range and frequent word-choice errors reflect the characteristics of Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response consists heavily of long, compound sentences linked by conjunctions with very little punctuation to break up the text. There are multiple grammatical errors, including capitalization issues ('DEAR', 'SO', 'THE'), tense and verb form inconsistencies ('currently i am working... to informed you', 'inspired them' instead of 'inspire them'), and missing articles. The structure 'hope so you can join us' is also grammatically incorrect. Due to the frequent errors and lack of control over complex sentence structures, a Band 5.0 is awarded.
