Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The candidate successfully covers all bullet points of the task prompt. First, information about the new theatre is provided, noting that it is located near Emporium Mall in Lahore and has a capacity of over one thousand people. Second, a clear invitation is extended to Mr Imran for the opening ceremony on Saturday, 22 October 2026. Third, reasons are given explaining why he would be suitable to open the theatre, highlighting his star status, familiarity with the stage, and large fan base. The tone is appropriate for an invitation to a famous person, and all parts of the prompt are well addressed, fulfilling the requirements for a Band 7.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical structure with clear paragraphing, moving from the purpose of the letter to details about the venue, the invitation itself, and the justification for choosing the actor. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firsly', 'Furthermore', and 'As a result', although some mechanical errors occur in spacing and punctuation around these connectors (e.g. missing spaces after commas). Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, ensuring clear logical progression throughout the response. Overall, the organization is clear, placing this comfortably at Band 6.5 to 7.0, supported by adequate paragraphing and logical sequencing.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common items such as 'opening ceremony', 'drama house', and 'international artists'. However, there are notable word-choice and collocation limitations, such as 'maximum sitting of one thousand plus individuals' instead of seating capacity, and 'placed will recognized' instead of place will be recognized. Spelling errors like 'Firsly' and 'meaning ful' detract slightly from the lexical control. While the range is sufficient to convey the message clearly, the frequent minor inaccuracies in word choice and spelling place this firmly in the Band 6.0 category.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional and multi-clause sentences ('My company is planning to arrange some events there and wanted to invite international artists in future'). However, there are numerous punctuation, spacing, and minor grammatical errors throughout the text, such as missing spaces after commas ('saturday,22', 'Firsly,I', 'Furthermore, you') and tense inconsistencies ('so, I invited you' instead of 'so I am inviting you'). Despite these errors, meaning is rarely impeded, and the sentence structures demonstrate an adequate mix, satisfying the criteria for a Band 6.0.
