Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response covers all three bullet points from the prompt effectively. You provided information about the new theatre, noting it has around 200 seats, is centrally air-conditioned, and is named 'Sartaj Theatre' after one of her movies. You successfully invited her to be the chief guest to open the venue, and explained why she would be a good person for the role, citing your admiration for her acting skills and personality. However, the tone fluctuates slightly between professional business correspondence and informal fan mail (for example, congratulating her on a newborn and using 'Ma'am' repeatedly). To reach a higher band, the overall register should remain more consistently professional throughout while still fulfilling the specific communicative purpose of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter follows a recognizable structure with an appropriate salutation and sign-off, and your ideas are generally arranged in a logical sequence moving from information to the invitation and finally your personal reasons. Paragraphing is attempted, though the first paragraph is quite long and contains multiple distinct ideas that could have been broken down further. Cohesive devices are used, but there are some mechanical transitions, such as 'I would like to take this opportunity , and would like to...' and punctuation issues around commas and conjunctions. Referencing is mostly clear, but the logical progression between sentences occasionally stumbles due to conversational filler phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms like 'community manager', 'grand opening', and 'chief guest'. However, there are some noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'depicted of acting i.e ( Sartaj )' and 'central air conditioned' instead of 'centrally air-conditioned'. The spelling 'Tribhuwan' is fine as a proper noun, but other phrasing shows a reliance on informal spoken patterns rather than polished written English. While communication is not impeded, these lexical slips prevent the response from achieving a higher band score for vocabulary precision and natural control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence forms used in your letter, such as 'I am glad to inform you that we have a grand opening...'. However, you make several grammatical and punctuation errors. For instance, the sentence 'you are a remarkable actress and has made the entire Bollywood industry...' contains a subject-verb agreement error ('has' instead of 'have'). There are also incorrect comma placements before conjunctions and spaces before punctuation marks, as seen in 'opportunity , and would like'. While these errors do not impede communication, their frequency means the grammar does not consistently reach the error-free threshold required for a Band 7.
