Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The candidate addresses all parts of the task prompt, successfully including information about the new theatre, an invitation, and reasons why the actor is suitable for the opening. However, the development of these points is rather basic and somewhat repetitive. For instance, the explanation of why the actor is suitable relies on general praise ('your very famous and respected personality') rather than specific details tailored to the persona. Furthermore, the tone is occasionally overly informal or slightly misjudged given the context of writing to a famous figure (e.g., 'Dear Mr cock' and 'How you have been'). The purpose of the letter is clear, but the ideas could be more fully extended and supported. These features align the response with a Band 5.5 to 6.0, and a score of 5.5 is awarded due to limited development and recurring tone/appropriacy issues.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The letter exhibits a basic logical flow, moving from a greeting and self-introduction to the news of the theatre, the invitation, and the justification. However, paragraphing is poorly handled; many distinct thoughts are crammed into single dense paragraphs, and punctuation errors disrupt the natural progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are often misused or mechanically applied, as seen in inappropriate transitions like 'although, we own a-lot of theaters but, in this beautiful city' and 'theater.however,if you have any issues'. Reference words and punctuation are sometimes faulty, creating disjointed sentences. The overall structure provides some organisation, but fails to maintain clear, smooth cohesion throughout. This performance fits the Band 5 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is of a limited and repetitive nature, adequate for simple communication but displaying noticeable errors. Words and phrases such as 'plaining' (planning), 'eagrly' (eagerly), and informal conversational fillers are present. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'prosperity', 'gratitude', or industry-specific terms, but these are often marred by spelling and word-choice inaccuracies (e.g., 'a-lot', 'time managment'). Errors in spelling and collocation occasionally cause the reader some difficulty, particularly regarding standard formal letter conventions and register. Because the lexical range is narrow and accuracy is constrained by frequent basic errors, a score of 5.0 is appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak throughout the text. There are frequent punctuation errors, including missing capitalisation ('subhan', 'iam', 'Islamabd'), incorrect comma splices ('industy; we cannot'), and run-on sentences ('My name is subhan iam working...'). Verb tenses and agreements are also inconsistent, as seen in 'How you have been' used as a greeting rather than a question, and 'as your very famous' instead of 'you are a very famous'. While some sentences are understandable, the high frequency of grammatical and punctuation errors restricts the grammar score to a Band 5.0.
