Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The candidate has successfully covered all bullet points required by the prompt. First, information about the new theatre is provided, detailing its location on Castle road, its cozy ambient, and weekly play-performances. Second, the invitation to Ranbir Kapoor to open the theatre is clearly stated. Third, the response explains why he is a suitable person for this role, citing his thirty years of experience and fifty super-hit films. The tone is appropriate for a semi-formal/formal business letter addressed to a celebrity. The ideas are relevant and support the overall objective of the task satisfactorily.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter follows a clear logical organization with an introduction, well-defined body paragraphs, and a polite sign-off. Cohesive devices such as 'Additionally', 'Adding to that', 'Moreover', and 'Since' are utilized to connect ideas, though some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct themes like theatre features versus invitation rationale. Referencing is mostly clear, though occasional punctuation faults disrupt the flow slightly, such as the stray full stop before 'which will attract' in the second paragraph.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, with attempts at less common phrasing such as 'inauguration', 'ambient', 'eminece', and 'production company'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation issues, such as 'engage more students to apprend' (instead of learn), 'ambient' used as a noun, and 'spend quality of time with their loved one's' (possessive apostrophe error). Despite these slips, the meaning remains clear throughout the letter, reflecting a Band 6 level of lexical resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional and causal clauses introduced by 'Since' and 'which'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation issues. Examples include fragment sentences ('Your eminence will encourage more talent to reach out to us. which will be beneficial...'), missing articles, and spelling errors like 'apprend'. Capitalization errors also occur, such as 'weekends' following a period incorrectly. These errors do not completely impede communication, but they lower the overall grammatical accuracy.
