Dear Priyanka Chopra,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing on behalf of Cineplex company to invite you for inauguration of our new theatre.

First of all, I am happy to inform you that Cineplex just completed the construction of a new movie theatre, located in Whitby, ON. It is a massive structure featuring 12 big screens and it also has one Imax 3D auditorium as well.

The grand opening ceremony is scheduled for October 15th at 10:00 AM. We would be honoured if you could perform the ribbon- cutting, offer a short opening brief, and join us to watch our first movie that we will screening.

Your lifelong dedication in film industry makes you perfect ambassador of our company. Moreover, we are thrilled to announce that we are screening your upcoming movie as our first show, which makes you perfect fit for our inauguration ceremony.

We will be very honoured if you could accept our invitation. I am looking forward to your prompt response.

Yours sincerely,

Zeel Soni

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response successfully covers all bullet points required by the task prompt. You effectively provide relevant information about the new theatre, such as its location in Whitby, Ontario, its massive structure featuring 12 big screens, and an IMAX 3D auditorium. Furthermore, you clearly extend an invitation to Priyanka Chopra for the grand opening ceremony on October 15th, detailing her expected roles like performing the ribbon-cutting. Finally, you adequately explain why she would be a suitable person to open the theatre by citing her lifelong dedication to the film industry and the exciting fact that her upcoming movie will be screened as your first show. All parts of the task are addressed with appropriate tone and clear purpose throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The letter maintains a clear logical organisation and progression from the opening salutation to the closing sign-off. Paragraphs are used appropriately to separate different functions, such as introducing the purpose of the letter, describing the theatre, issuing the invitation, and explaining the choice of guest. Cohesive devices and referencing are generally well managed, with phrases like 'First of all' and 'Moreover' helping to guide the reader smoothly through the text. While paragraphing and transitions are functional and clear, slightly more sophisticated linking expressions could elevate the cohesion further.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate and appropriate for a formal invitation letter in a General Training context. You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary with terms such as 'inauguration', 'massive structure', 'grand opening ceremony', and 'ambassador'. However, there are some minor lexical slips and unnatural collocations, such as writing 'Cineplex company' instead of 'the Cineplex company' or 'Cineplex', and 'offer a short opening brief' rather than 'speech' or 'remarks'. Despite these occasional inaccuracies in word choice, communication is never impeded, and the tone remains professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The response displays a reasonable mix of simple and complex sentence forms. You demonstrate control over standard structures, as seen in sentences like 'We would be honoured if you could perform the ribbon-cutting...'. However, there are a few grammatical errors and missing articles throughout the text. For example, you wrote 'invite you for inauguration' instead of 'for the inauguration', and omitted a relative pronoun or preposition in 'the first movie that we will screening' (which also contains a tense error: 'will be screening'). Punctuation is generally accurate, but these persistent minor inaccuracies prevent the text from reaching a higher band.
