Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response successfully covers all the required bullet points from the prompt. You gave clear information about the new theatre, mentioning its location at the city mall, capacity of 500 people, 3D technology, and surrounding amenities like restaurants. You also explicitly invited the actor to open the theatre and explained why they are a suitable choice by highlighting their contribution to cultural values and their large fan following. The tone is appropriately polite for a formal invitation letter, and the purpose is clear throughout. Minor details could have been further extended, but overall, the task is addressed well, fulfilling the requirements for a Band 6.5 or solid Band 7 performance.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical overall arrangement, moving naturally from the purpose of the letter to the details of the theatre, reasons for the invitation, and finally a call to action. Paragraphing is used to separate main ideas, although the second paragraph is quite dense and lists multiple features in rapid succession without sufficient transition devices. Cohesive devices are somewhat mechanical (e.g., repeating 'and' or using basic connectors like 'so that'). Referencing is generally clear, but the lack of smoother transitional links between sentences keeps this criterion at a Band 6 level.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, successfully conveying meaning with terms like 'capacity', 'convenience', and 'competent staff'. However, there are notable spelling and word-choice errors that prevent a higher score, such as 'writting' (writing), 'openning' (opening), 'accomodate' (accommodate), 'upto' (up to), 'equipments' (equipment is uncountable), 'avaible' (available), 'Restuarants' (restaurants), 'thier' (their), 'Seprate' (separate), and 'honour' instead of 'an honour'. While these do not impede overall communication, the frequency of basic spelling mistakes places this firmly in the Band 5.5 to 6.0 range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You demonstrate an ability to use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'so that people could enjoy their meals after the show' and 'which depicted social and cultural values'. However, control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. There are several structural and article errors, such as missing articles ('at city mall' instead of 'at the city mall', 'for opening' instead of 'for the opening'), incorrect prepositions ('invite you for' instead of 'invite you to'), and a missing subject in 'Event will take place'. Despite these errors, meaning is generally clear, representing a typical Band 6 performance.
