Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response covers all three bullet points required in the task instructions. You provide some information about the new theatre by mentioning its location context, HD screens, and food and beverage facilities. You invite the actor Virat to the opening ceremony and explain why he would be a suitable person to perform the opening based on his fame and popularity as a cricketer. However, the ideas are relatively basic and lack full development. The explanation of why he is a good choice is slightly repetitive, focusing primarily on the idea that 'everyone likes you a lot.' To reach a higher band, the ideas should be extended with more specific details and fully realized descriptions. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, fulfilling the basic requirements of a General Training correspondence.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The letter has a coherent overall arrangement and follows a logical structure with an opening, body paragraphs, and a sign-off. Paragraphing is attempted, though some paragraphs are overly brief, such as the final single-sentence paragraph 'I hope you will come and enjoy with us.' Cohesive devices are used, but some are faulty or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'Due to this' and 'Also'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly with pronouns. For instance, in the sentence 'if you open a cinema, every people can encourage a lot,' the connection between ideas feels slightly mechanical. Progression is evident, but the lack of flexible cohesive devices limits the score.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your message, but the range is limited and basic. You use everyday terms like 'famous person,' 'big cinema,' and 'good person.' There are some inappropriate word choices and awkward collocations, such as 'every people can encourage a lot' instead of 'people will be greatly encouraged,' and 'open a new cinema with your hand.' Spelling is generally fine, but there are punctuation and spacing issues after commas and periods. To achieve a higher score, you need to incorporate a wider range of less common vocabulary and demonstrate better control of lexical collocation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though complex structures are often faulty. For example, 'As our area does not have enough theatre that's why we want to open a new theatre very soon' exhibits a run-on structure and grammatical awkwardness. There are several grammatical errors throughout the response, including missing articles ('in entertainment company,' 'in opening ceremony'), incorrect prepositions, and subject-verb agreement issues ('every people can encourage'). Punctuation errors are frequent, particularly missing spaces after commas and full stops. While communication is not severely impeded, the frequency of errors places this in the band 5 range.
