Dear Angelina Jolie,

I hope this meets you well, this is to invite you as the guest actor for the opening of our new theatre.

Dope entertainment has been in the theatre and movie industry for two decades, we have theatres across major cities like Abuja, Lagos and Portharcourt. Our latest addition is the "Musa Yardua" theatre, which will be opened in Benin City, this is a 2,500 capacity theatre, with a studio and also a cinema. This event is scheduled to take place on the 15th of December 2026.

It will be a priviledge to have you as our guest of honor, with your recent movie about to be released, this will be a good means of publicity for your movie as it can also be premiered at our new cinema.

Further arrangement regarding transportation and accomodation will be communicated once your availability is confirmed. Kindly reach out to me regarding any concern or questions on the numbers provided below.

I await a prompt response and look forward to working with you.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The letter covers all requirements of the prompt by providing information about the new theatre, formally inviting Angelina Jolie, and explaining why she would be a suitable guest. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal business communication. However, some aspects are more fully developed than others; for instance, the details regarding the theatre are elaborated well, but the justification for why she is specifically a good person to open the theatre is somewhat brief and relies heavily on promoting her upcoming movie rather than her overall cultural or artistic fit. To reach a higher level, all parts of the task would need to be equally extended and supported with fully articulated ideas throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear letter format, greeting, and sign-off. Paragraphs are used logically to group related ideas, such as the company background in one paragraph and the invitation details in another. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, the second paragraph links multiple distinct clauses with commas rather than full stops or appropriate conjunctions, creating run-on tendencies. Referencing and logical progression are generally easy to follow, but more flexible and seamless transitions between paragraphs would elevate the structural flow to the next tier.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting less common items and industry-specific terms such as 'guest of honor', 'publicity', and 'premiered'. However, there are some noticeable lexical errors and spelling mistakes that prevent a higher score, such as 'priviledge' instead of 'privilege' and 'accomodation' instead of 'accommodation'. Word choice is generally functional, but phrases like 'meet you well' are slightly unnatural compared to standard formal greetings. To achieve a higher band, a wider range of sophisticated vocabulary with greater precision in spelling and collocation would be required.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional-style arrangements. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as comma splices in the second paragraph ('...two decades, we have theatres...') and capitalization errors with proper nouns like 'Portharcourt' and 'Yardua'. Nonetheless, these errors rarely impede communication, and the meaning remains clear throughout. To move towards a higher band, the writer would need to produce a greater frequency of error-free sentences while maintaining tighter control over punctuation and complex sentence structures.
