The new theater is located downtown in the heart of the city. The building is very recognizable as it is the tallest building down town. The new theater will be used for various performances ranging from live drama, standup comedy, art shows and music performances. It will also be used for watch parties for various sporting events. The company will also be renting the theater out for private events such as wedding and birthday celebrations.

The comoany have finalized the guest list for the opening eveng for the theater and it would be an honor to have you at this event.

Your diverse range of experiences makes you the best candidate to open the event as many young individuals in the entertainment industry look up to you as a mentor. They would benefit greatly drawing inspiration from your opening speech.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response successfully addresses all three parts of the task prompt, earning a solid score. You provided information about the new downtown theatre, formally invited the actor, and explained why they would be a great candidate to open the venue. However, some areas are more fully developed than others, which places the response precisely at this level. For instance, the details about the venue are elaborated well with a range of uses, such as live drama and sporting watch parties, and the invitation is clearly extended. On the other hand, the explanation of why the actor is suitable remains somewhat general, focusing primarily on their status as a mentor rather than tying their specific artistic background directly to the theatre's programming. To move toward higher bands, you would need to fully extend all ideas with more specific contextual details.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear, logical progression from introducing the new theatre to extending the invitation and providing a rationale. You have used paragraphing appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as the building description, the company plans, and the justification for the invitation. However, cohesion is occasionally mechanical or slightly affected by referencing issues. For example, the transition between paragraphs could be smoother, and minor spelling slips in cohesive elements slightly disrupt the flow. To achieve a higher band, you should employ a wider and more flexible variety of cohesive devices while ensuring that referencing remains consistently clear throughout the entire text.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You have demonstrated an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less-common terms such as "diverse range of experiences" and "candidate". The vocabulary used is generally appropriate and allows the message to be communicated clearly despite a few spelling and word-choice errors, such as "comoany" instead of company and "eveng" instead of evening. While you manage everyday tasks well and attempt more sophisticated items, occasional inaccuracies in spelling and collocations prevent access to a higher descriptor. To improve your lexical score, focus on eliminating basic typographical errors and expanding your repertoire of precise, context-specific vocabulary related to formal invitations and arts entertainment.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The writing features a satisfactory mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating a reasonable command of sentence structure. You successfully incorporated complex clauses, such as "Your diverse range of experiences makes you the best candidate..." alongside simpler sentences. There are some minor errors in grammar and verb choice, notably "I will like to provide you" instead of "I would like to provide you" and a slight prepositional mismatch in "inform you on" rather than "inform you of". These errors, however, are occasional and rarely impede communication. To reach higher bands, you need to increase the frequency of entirely error-free complex sentences and demonstrate tighter control over modal verbs and prepositional usage.
