Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You successfully cover all three bullet points required in the prompt, addressing the task in a semi-formal, friendly tone. You provide some information about the new theatre in Mumbai, invite Kriti Shanon to open it, and explain why her personality and background make her a great fit for the role. However, while all parts are addressed, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the details about the theatre's facilities and the invitation itself are somewhat brief and rely on general statements rather than extensive elaboration. To reach a higher band, you would need to extend and fully develop all your ideas with more precise details and a consistently clear position throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

Your letter has a coherent overall arrangement, and your ideas are organised into logical paragraphs that separate the introduction, details of the theatre, the invitation, and your personal admiration. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, transitional phrases like 'Diving deeply to talk about this fucntion' feel unnatural and awkward. Furthermore, referencing is not always completely clear, and the flow between some sentences could be smoother with more natural cohesive devices instead of repetitive connectors. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words will help your ideas progress more naturally from one to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is minimally adequate for the task, providing enough words to communicate your message, but it shows a limited range with noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form. For instance, you write 'writing this later' instead of 'letter', 'bussiness' instead of 'business', 'fucntion' instead of 'function', 'luxerious' instead of 'luxurious', and 'faborious' instead of 'fabulous'. You also attempt some less common vocabulary, such as 'cheaf guest' (chief guest), but these attempts result in frequent spelling mistakes and awkward collocations. To improve, you need to broaden your vocabulary range and pay closer attention to standard spelling and precise word choices.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, such as when you explain the features of the theatre and your reasons for the invitation. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause some difficulty for the reader. Issues appear in prepositions and articles, such as 'invite you in our grand opening' instead of 'to our grand opening', and 'open this theatre by your hand' instead of 'open this theatre yourself'. Additionally, there are minor punctuation and capitalisation slips throughout the text. To achieve a higher score, you need to demonstrate better control over your grammatical structures and reduce the frequency of basic errors.
