Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You have addressed all parts of the task effectively, fulfilling the requirements for a general correspondence letter. You successfully provided information about the new theatre, including its location, seating capacity, and modern amenities. You extended a clear invitation to the opening ceremony scheduled for November 1st, and you explained why the actor would be an ideal choice to open the venue due to his prominent status and influence in the industry. While most points are well supported, the explanation regarding why he is a good fit could be slightly more expansive to reach the highest standard, as some ideas show a minor tendency to rely on general statements rather than deeper elaboration.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

Your letter demonstrates a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. You adopted an appropriate layout and adopted a semi-formal tone with standard professional conventions, starting with a suitable greeting and signing off correctly with 'Yours faithfully'. You used cohesive devices reasonably well, employing sequencing words like 'Firstly' and 'Secondly' to structure your body paragraphs. Paragraphing is handled sufficiently, separating different themes such as the theatre details, the invitation itself, and the justification for choosing the actor. However, referencing and cohesive links are occasionally a bit mechanical, preventing the progression from feeling entirely seamless.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You demonstrated an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'formally invite', 'modern sound system', and 'elevate the aura'. Communication is clear throughout despite a few noticeable lexical and spelling inaccuracies. For instance, there are word choice and spelling slips such as writing 'opening ceremony' missing an article ('the opening ceremony'), spelling 'Cineplax' instead of 'Cineplex', writing 'accomodate' with an extra 'o', and misspelling 'occassion'. These minor errors indicate an attempt to use a varied lexicon, but occasional slips in word form and spelling keep the lexical score at a solid intermediate level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You displayed a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating control over your basic structures. Examples like 'Since you are well-known actor and a performer in our film industry, your presence will elevate the aura of the event' show a commendable attempt at complex subordination. However, there are some grammar and punctuation errors present, particularly concerning missing articles (e.g., writing 'to opening ceremony' instead of 'to the opening ceremony', 'a head of marketing' instead of 'the head of marketing', and 'Since you are well-known actor' instead of 'a well-known actor'). Additionally, there are minor prepositional issues like 'invite you in the opening ceremony' instead of 'to'. These errors do not impede communication, but their persistence prevents a higher rating.
